Diesel particle filter

With a Diesel particle filter it acts around a system for the separation of Diesel soot out of the exhaust gases of diesel engines. With AUDI a system is used, which uses the most advanced state of the art: The "Catalysed in such a way specified Soot filter" (CSF or catalytically coated filter) uses a noble-metalliferous filter coating, which affects double way. With the passive regeneration a slow and careful transformation of the soot stored in the catalyst takes place to CO2. This procedure happens in a temperature range of 350 - 500 degrees and runs off, particularly in the predominant motorway enterprise, without special measures continuously.

Only with longer enterprise with small load, approximately in city traffic all 1,000 to 1,200 kilometers an active increase of the exhaust gas temperature on approximately 600 degrees provides for an additional filter regeneration. The particles stored in the filter burn down at this temperature.
